چکیده
Abstract The aim of this survey was to identify grain processing techniques and fiber sources adopted in the beef finishing diets. One hundred forty-nine feedyards, located 10 states, were surveyed from March 2020 February 2021 for their feeding practices. Feedlot owners nutritionists interviewed by using a common form. form consisted 5 questions, including feedlot location, capacity number animals serviced yearly, breed, roughage sources, roughage: concentrate ratio. Results tabulated an Excel spreadsheet each feedlot. responses per question, mean, minimum value, maximum mode (most frequently occurring value) calculated. ranged 300 40,000 (mode = 3,000) cattle yearly 400 90,000 6,000). Nellore breed crossbreed represented 67 33% % finished animals, respectively. Roughage: ratio 40: 60 10: 90. Thirty-four percent feedlots 20: 80 ratio, followed 25: 75 (17.5%) 15: 85 (14%) ratios. High-moisture corn, snaplage (grain, cob, husk, shank), reconstituted corn used 21, 12, 6.7% feedlots, Reconstituted sorghum included 4% Thus, 43.7% silages Whole-plant silage most source (59.5%), sugarcane bagasse (16%), tropical grass (14%), whole-plant (13%). Nutritionists also cited hay (8%), (6%), fresh (3%) as sources. Overall, Brazilian have ensiling important method process grains (corn sorghum), especially because machinery industry has made available new equipment. is source.

Intensive livestock systems differ from most pasture-based systems in that managers exert much greater control over the production cycle and the quality of animals entering the system. Consequently, technical inefficiencies among animals tend to be much more easily eradicated. Nevertheless, a range of factors could still cause both technical inefficiency and variations in productivity between a...

Nitrogen losses from open beef feedlots are a concern. Methods that decrease volatilization losses will lead to greater manure N, which is likely to be beneficial in open lot beef operations. Twelve or more pens were dedicated to N research whereby N intake, retention, and excretion were quantified and a mass balance conducted using manure, runoff, soil balance, and loss quantities. The objecti...
